Live attendance is recommended whenever possible for the best learning experience. Recordings of the sessions will be made available for registered students who cannot attend live.
Prerequisites:
- Students should be women above the age of 17.
- Tajwid assessment required
- Ability to read the Holy Quran fluently with application of tajwid rules.
- Arabic Level 1: ARA 101, 102, 103, 104. Understanding of Arabic is beneficial but not required.
Placement: New students in the Ribaat Tajwīd Program should complete an assessment with a tajwīdassessor. Based on that, they will receive a recommendation on the best course to start with. Course Description: An accelerated study of the science of tajwid. In this course, students will gain an understanding of all tajwid concepts (including points of articulation - makharij - and letter attributes - sifat, proper pronunciation of the Holy Quran) during weekly online sessions with the instructor. This course is a fast paced review of tajwid rules for those who have mastered the practice of recitation and need to learn or relearn the theory.
Course Requirements: Students are expected to attend the online lectures, submit a midterm and a final exam.
This is an online course so students will need:
- Access to internet with an internet speed of at least 2 Mbps recommended for best performance.
- Headphones, camera and microphone may be required for in-class participation.
- To access the live class and recordings, students will need a computer, smartphone, or tablet/iPad with the Zoom app.

Students will have access to course forums, recordings, and files until September 11th, 2022.
