Daylight savings time will end in the United States on Sunday, November 7, 2021. Depending on where you live, this may or may not affect your class timing. In countries where DST is not applied at all, class will be one hour later starting November 7.
Prerequisites:
This course is offered periodically.
- Students should be women above the age of 17.
- Arabic Grammar Level 3B or equivalent knowledge.
- Arabic Conversation Level 3B or equivalent knowledge. The two courses may also be taken simultaneously.
- Students enrolling in this level should have a firm grasp of foundational and intermediate-level grammatical features of the Arabic language, and will be confident in reading and writing the script.
Placement:
New students in the Arabic program are required to submit a placement test to be placed at the correct level. Once you have submitted and tests have been assessed, you will receive a recommendation for the appropriate course for your level.

Course Description: Students in this course will work on refining their knowledge of key grammatical constructs, and will increase their grammatical knowledge through study of more advanced concepts and exposure to a variety of Arabic texts. This level builds upon the content covered in Levels 1, 2 and 3 and takes students into the world of more advanced Arabic grammar skills. By including a greater focus on application of skills through reading, the aim at this level is to strengthen students’ comprehension of Arabic writing, and to consolidate the grammatical skills they need to express themselves in the language.
Topics covered:
Verb Forms V, VI, VIIDefinite and indefinite relative pronouns
Connectives
Quantifiers
Conjugation of weak roots in the jussive mood
Conjugation of doubled roots
Course Requirements: Students are expected to attend the online lectures, complete one or more weekly assignments, complete a term project, submit a midterm and a final exam.
This is an online course so students will need:
- Access to internet with an internet speed of at least 2 Mbps recommended for best performance.
- Headphones, camera and microphone may be required for in-class participation.
- To access the live class and recordings, students will need a computer, smartphone, or tablet/iPad with the Zoom app.
