Live attendance is recommended whenever possible for the best learning experience. Recordings of the sessions will be made available for registered students who cannot attend live.

Daylight savings time will end in the United States on Sunday, November 7, 2021. Depending on where you live, this may or may not affect your class timing. In countries where DST is not applied at all, class will be one hour later starting November 7.

Prerequisites: 

This course is offered periodically.

  1. Students should be women above the age of 17.
  2. Arabic Grammar Level 2B or equivalent knowledge.
  3. Arabic Conversation Level 2B or equivalent knowledge. The two courses may also be taken simultaneously.
  4. Students enrolling in this course should be well acquainted with basic and intermediate grammatical constructs and be confident in identifying and using these.

Placement:

New students in the Arabic program are required to submit a placement test to be placed at the correct level. Once you have submitted and tests have been assessed, you will receive a recommendation for the appropriate course for your level.

Course Description: 

This level takes students well into the domain of intermediate Arabic grammar, solidifying and consolidating knowledge from previous levels and building on their reading and writing skills through application of grammar to texts and their own writing. The use of a root dictionary as a tool to aid comprehension is also stressed at this level. Students will work on their translation skills by analyzing a variety of texts, without diacritical markings.

Inna, Kana, Laysa

Active Participle + the Hal Form
Numbers 11-99
Adverbs
Rules of Hamza

Course Requirements: Students are expected to attend the online lectures, complete one or more weekly assignments, complete a term project, submit a midterm and a final exam.

This is an online course so students will need:

  • Access to internet with an internet speed of at least 2 Mbps recommended for best performance. 
  • Headphones, camera and microphone may be required for in-class participation. 
  • To access the live class and recordings, students will need a computer, smartphone, or tablet/iPad with the Zoom app.

Students will have access to course forums, recordings, and files until January 12th, 2022.
