Live attendance is recommended whenever possible for the best learning experience. Recordings of the sessions will be made available for registered students who cannot attend live.

Daylight savings time will end in the United States on Sunday, November 7, 2021. Depending on where you live, this may or may not affect your class timing. In countries where DST is not applied at all, class will be one hour later starting November 7.

Prerequisites: 

  1. Students should be women above the age of 17.
  2. ARA Grammar Level 1A & 1B or equivalent knowledge. 
  3. Students enrolling in this course should have a cursory knowledge of the names, shapes and sounds of Arabic letters, as well as the ability to read and write the Arabic script. Some understanding of grammar and vocabulary will be needed in this course.

Placement: New students in the Arabic program are required to submit a placement test to be placed at the correct level. Once you have submitted and tests have been assessed, you will receive a recommendation for the appropriate course for your level.

Course Description: 100 Words to Understand the Holy Quran is an intensive study of 100 high frequency words from the Holy Quran for students who can read the Quran in Arabic but have little or no understanding of the Arabic language. By the end of the course, students will be able to understand at least 40% of the Quran they read. Through daily reading and listening assignments, students will develop a greater understanding of the Quran, a stronger relationship with the Holy Quran, and increase their reading speed significantly.

Course Requirements: Students are expected to attend the online lectures, complete one or more weekly assignments, complete a term project, and submit a final exam.

This is an online course so students will need:

  • Access to internet with an internet speed of at least 2 Mbps recommended for best performance. 
  • Headphones, camera and microphone may be required for in-class participation. 
  • To access the live class and recordings, students will need a computer, smartphone, or tablet/iPad with the Zoom app.

Students will have access to course forums, recordings, and files until January 12th, 2022.
